Some Instagram users have been waiting for this for six years: after much criticism, a popular function is finally making a comeback. The chronological feed is back and comes in two flavors. In the standard view, however, everything remains as before.

Until 2016, Instagram simply displayed all content in chronological order. Or to put it another way: What was last posted can be seen at the top. At some point, that was no longer good enough for Instagram – and for many other platforms. Instead, algorithms ensure that some posts are significantly more visible than others. Keeping track of all content has become increasingly difficult over the years. But now Instagram has an understanding.

Instagram: Chronological feed is back

As Instagram announced in a message, it is a chronological display of photos and videos possible again from now on. It wasn’t chosen as the “new” standard view, but users are now given the choice. Content can now be viewed chronologically in both the new “Followed” and “Favorites” views. However, nothing changes in the “Home” view in the app.

Users themselves determine who appears in the “Favorites”. This is particularly useful when is followed by many accounts on Instagram. A maximum of 50 can be set as favorites. Both views are available in the apps for Android and iOS (source: Meta).

Buying followers on Instagram is not a good idea:

Instagram reserves the right to intervene in feed

Instagram does not want to leave the new views entirely to the users: “Over time, we will adapt your feed add more recommendationsbased on your interests,” explains Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram. The recommendation algorithm used by the parent company Meta’s social media platform has long been criticized.
