Elon Musk is charging for Twitter polls

Twitter seems to be looking for additional revenue and subscribers for its Twitter Blue subscription. The company is therefore putting additional, previously free functions behind the payment barrier. Including the popular Twitter polls.

Twitter’s value more than halved after Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition. This emerges from an internal memo from Musk himself. The company therefore seems to be looking for additional sources of income.

Twitter polls as part of Twitter Blue soon to be paid for

Elon Musk apparently thinks above all of Twitter Blue. in one tweet meanwhile he announced that he wanted to integrate further functions into the paid subscription. According to this, the popular Twitter polls will be part of Twitter Blue from April 15, 2023 and will therefore be subject to a fee.

In addition, only tweets from paying subscribers should appear in the “For you” area in the future. According to Musk, this is “the only realistic way to prevent the takeover of advanced AI bot swarms.” This could reduce the reach of tweets from non-paying subscribers.

Twitter: “Old” blue ticks to disappear from April

However, there are no official figures on how many users look at posts in the “For You” recommendations. Musk had previously integrated account verification into Twitter Blue and made it chargeable.

The previous verification ticks should meanwhile disappear from April 1, 2023. This means that the blue badges will have a completely different meaning than before.

Because before the takeover by Elon Musk, Twitter awarded the check mark to celebrities, companies, politicians and journalists to confirm the authenticity of their accounts. Going forward, however, all Blue subscribers will be able to lend the icons to themselves. They also look exactly the same as before.
