Elon Musk brings 14-year-old university graduate on board

Kairan Quazi is a child prodigy like no other. Now 14, he has remarkable math, coding and problem-solving skills.

Quazi began studying at the age of nine, first at a community college and later at Santa Clara University, among others, from which he will be the youngest graduate in the past 200 years.

14-year-old college graduate joins SpaceX

Quazi has also worked in Intel’s artificial intelligence research lab. After completing his computer science and engineering studies, he is now hired by Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX, according to Mercury News reported.

There he is supposed to work for Starlink in particular. The SpaceX project is building a global satellite network that will bring internet access to even the most remote places.

How long will Quazi be allowed to work?

Like gamestar.de, Quazi is initially exempt from the 80 hours of work per week that Musk demands of himself and many of his employees writes. As a minor and of school age, he is limited to eight hours a week in Washington State, where he will move to work with his mother.

He certainly won’t have to work night shifts. However, it is questionable whether the legally prescribed rules for young workers apply in full to Quazi, who has already completed his training with a university degree. Or whether he is not allowed to work longer than a few hours.

High IQ: Exceptionally bright 14-year-old

How extraordinarily clever Quazi is is illustrated in a guest article of the boy in the Huffington Post in early 2019. At the time, he wrote that as a three-year-old he was already educating his teachers about the requirements for becoming US President.

An IQ test in third grade attested him to be smarter than 99.9 percent of all people. His emotional intelligence is also surprisingly well developed. However, Quazi admitted that he struggles with learning foreign languages. He is also not overly talented at the piano, spelling or handwriting.

Python: Quazi can program very well

For this โ€“ and this is likely to be more important for his future job as a software developer โ€“ he started programming at the age of seven. According to his own statements, as a ten-year-old he was already one of the best students at the Youngwonks Coding Academy, where children and young people learn to program.

SpaceX boss Musk is also considered highly intelligent. His IQ is said to be 155, just below those of other tech greats like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, as well as physicist Albert Einstein, whose IQs are all reported to be 160.
