Electro-Macan to take off Taycan: Porsche continues to write success story

The Taycan was and is a real success for Porsche, making the switch to an electric car all the more attractive for the sports car manufacturer. No wonder that it will not stay with one model. With the E-Macan, the next full-blooded electric car is announced – and is intended to outshine the first electric Porsche.

Plans for electric Macan: Porsche wants to beat Taycan success

With the Macan, Porsche is planning an important step in the conversion of its product range. The electric SUV is to be the first combustion engine that the sports car manufacturer from Stuttgart converts into an electric car. Porsche got a lot right on the first try, as the success of the Taycan shows. But soon the Macan new records climb.

This is reported by the British automotive portal car. The progress and plans for the E-Macan have been discussed with several Porsche officials. The design should be based on the rounded combustion engine original, although the electric version will be Porsche’s first electric car on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE). In addition, weaker charging systems with 400 V, such as some wall boxes, should be able to supply the E-Macan with electricity more quickly. Porsche plans to use the 800-volt battery system in two 400 volt systems to be able to share. Details are not known.

One is loaded on the E-Macan 100 kW battery. Porsche is not yet revealing how far the e-SUV should go with it. Only the goal is clear: there must be more in the 468 km WLTP range of the Taycan, despite the naturally higher air resistance of an SUV body. At the same time, Porsche wants to install a more powerful drive. Two permanently excited electric motors are said to have an output of 450 kW. The Taycan is only slightly stronger in the most expensive configuration.

The current spearhead of Porsche’s electric strategy is the Taycan, here in the Cross Turismo version:
