Even if both combustion engines and electric cars lose range in winter, electric cars are increasingly struggling with the cold temperatures. This is because cold increases the internal resistance within the batteries, thereby reducing capacity at the same time.

In order to advance electromobility, the platform is investigating Recurrent Auto transparent data on e-cars, but also shows their limits. In the course of this, the US company compared 700 electric cars with each other and analyzed their loss of range in winter.

The basis for the investigation is the range in winter and summer temperatures, with winter temperatures between minus one degree Celsius and minus six degrees Celsius and the reference temperature at 21 degrees Celsius.
