Dynamic Island replaces notch (and this is what it looks like)

One of the most striking new features of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) is the Dynamic Island. But what can you actually do with this replacement for the notch? iPhoned tells you!

Read on after the ad.

iPhone 14 Pro (Max): Dynamic Island

During the Apple event in September, Apple showed the new iPhone 14 and with the normal iPhone 14, much remained the same. The new iPhone 14 is of course nice, but when the iPhone 14 Pro was shown, everyone really opened their mouths in surprise.

This was mainly due to the new ‘Dynamic Island’. This is the oval bar at the top of the screen (which secretly consists of two parts). This bar is the replacement for the notch, which you still see on the standard iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus.

Well, you might think that Dynamic Island is just a new term for a slightly different notch, but Apple has really done something special. During the Apple event you saw that the bar can do much more.

Dynamic Island: cool animations in a small bar

The black bar can change shape. He does this automatically with various apps, notifications and messages. For example, when you receive a call, the bar with a smooth animation becomes larger and you see in the bar who is calling you. Things like notifications and the use of Face ID are also provided with cool animations with the Dynamic Island.

In addition, the Dynamic Island can also display information in the background. For example, do you have Apple Music running while you are in another app? Then you will see the Music app in the oval bar. It is even possible to place multiple apps in the Dynamic Island at the same time, but there is probably a limit.

Interactive: tap the new notch

The Dynamic Island is also interactive. You can tap it to open the corresponding app, for example. It remains to be seen whether you then have to constantly clean your front camera because there are fingerprints on it.

Some apps will also be temporarily visible in the Dynamic Island (for example, a notification when you receive a message). But these notifications are also provided with a funny animation in the Dynamic Island.

More about the iPhone 14

Unfortunately, the ‘standard’ iPhone 14 still has the ‘normal’ notch. So you don’t get the special Dynamic Island effects. Fortunately, the iPhone 14 (6.1 inch) has received a few other nice improvements. It has a better camera and now has crash detection. The device still has an A15 chip, which you will also find in the iPhone 13. Secretly it is the same chip as the iPhone 13 Pro.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus has the same specifications as the standard iPhone 14, but the device has a larger screen (6.7 inches). It also has a better battery life.

iPhone 14 Pro (Max)

If you want to have the Dynamic Island you have to buy the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 14 Pro Max. But that is of course not the only reason that you should opt for an iPhone 14 Pro (Max). This device also has the best camera (48MP), an always-on screen, crash detection and the new A16 chip.
