Dyantha Brooks candid about miscarriage: ‘Why don’t we talk about that?’

In the latest episode of Rooijakkers Over the Floor Dyantha tells candidly about her miscarriage, sharing a pregnancy announcement and the name of their unborn baby.

Talking about miscarriage

Only a few more weeks and then Dyantha is expecting a little brother for Davis (4), something she and her husband Mick have been longing for for a while. “Before, when we were ‘planning’, we thought: next year we will go for the second. But the moment we wanted it, it became a miscarriage,” says the Shownieuws presenter. “That was annoying, but it is something that so many people experience.” Dyantha therefore finds it important to be open about the subject. “I really felt the need to: OK, I have quite a reach, this happens to so many women, why don’t we talk about it?”

Screaming from the rooftops

Many parents wait until the second trimester before announcing their pregnancy. Van Dyantha could do it a little faster. “At the beginning of a pregnancy, people often say: keep it to yourself. But why?” she continues. “Why can’t you say to a colleague: ‘I was pregnant and it went wrong’. Why can’t we talk about that?” Dyantha and Mick prefer to tell them after six weeks that they are expecting a baby. Although, according to Mick, it is mainly Dyantha who shouts it from the rooftops. “Dyantha is the woman who tells the name after six weeks and I get dragged into it,” he says. With this pregnancy, the two decided to wait a little longer. “Just be a little quiet happy.” Oh and the name? That is already known. “Louis,” she reveals.
