Dirty Lines is an unprecedented hit for Netflix and given the steaming hot subject, that is perhaps not so surprising.

Netflix has hit the mark again with a Dutch production. Dirty Lines has been a hit in the Netherlands since its release earlier this week. The rest of the world isn’t quite finished yet, but given the reviews, it’s only a matter of time.

Dirty Lines dominates Netflix

Since the release of Dirty Lines on April 8, the series has been in the second place of Netflix’s most viewed content in the Netherlands. The Dutch-language production manages to beat international blockbusters such as Taboo and Elite. Only Bridgerton is currently more popular with us.

Sexy Amsterdam in the 80s

The popularity of the dramatic comedy series is probably at least partly due to its sexy concept. Dirty Lines is about the creation and demise of the first 06 sex phone line.

The show follows the founders and the actresses who initially make unprecedented amounts of money from the concept. Add to that the sheer excess of the 80s and you have a smoking hot series about sex, drugs and rock & roll.

Joy Delima plays the first actress to voice the sex line, while Minne Koole and Chris Peters’ characters focus on the financial part of the operation. And of course the atmospheric Amsterdam of the 1980s also plays a leading role.

Dirty Lines is a 6-episode miniseries now streaming on Netflix.
