FluBot tackled
The Dutch police have taken an important step in the malware for Android. The cybercrime team of the police in the east of the Netherlands has stopped the spread of the FluBot malware. To this end, the police collaborated with teams from other countries and with Europol. The FluBot malware was one of the fastest spreading mobile malware and only worked on Android phones.

The malware could be recognized by rogue SMS messages, suggesting that the SMS came from a parcel delivery service. This contained a link, after which malware could be downloaded. This one got access to contacts and so others were infected. Numerous other personal data could also be reached with the FluBot malware.
According to the police, this step has disconnected tens of thousands of victims from the network and prevented 6.5 million spam text messages. This week the news came out about a new form of malware, which attempts to access bank details.
