Dune History, Part Eight -apkrig

Our series on games from the Frank Herbert universe is coming to an end. In the previous section, I promised you a little surprise in the end. Although we could do a variety of unofficial games, modifications, and community projects, I’ve decided to pinpoint one that might really surprise you if you haven’t heard of it yet. With its theme and processing. Behind The Dune is an erotic, or rather rather a pornographic version of the first Dune by Cry from 1992. In addition, it is unexpectedly successful.

Please note that the following material is not suitable for minors.

Behind The Dune was created by a French artist David Balsamic with the help of other friends and with the help of Patreon fans. This is a free flash game, the first version of which was released in 2016 and was constantly improving. This is a surprisingly faithful and successful remake of the French adventure Cry, which has a very similar course. Here, too, the main character is young Paul, you start on Arrakis, you move the same way, you watch the world, you communicate, you can take various companions with you, and your task is to form alliances with the Fremen and mine spices. The gameplay is of course simplified, but if the pornographic subtext disturbs or annoys you, you can turn off all erotic content and still have a pretty fun and good-looking game, which is a success in itself in the field of this production. Unfortunately, adult games often do not boast dizzying gameplay. This way we could show you its censored version even in the stream.

As with the original, in the case of Behind The Dune, the game is very accessible to newcomers despite its interesting content and it is possible to get acquainted with the Dune universe as such. You always know what you want, and the difficulty is not high. It is such an introduction to the more perverted version of Frank Herbert’s saga, where there is no shortage of nudity and all sorts of spiciness. But even if someone might call the game too simple, the content is not trivial and thus the project deserves attention. At the same time, it is not only attractive due to the scandalous content, but I consider the stylization to be successful, regardless of whether the characters are just dressed or naked. In addition, after several years of modifications and improvements, the title is nicely refined and gives a very professional impression, albeit to the size of smaller games.

In addition to incest, you will come across anal sex, BDSM, rape, bukkake, oral sex killings and even more bizarre practices.

When I first started the game a few months ago in preparation for this series, I wasn’t convinced that I would write about it. I found it more of an interesting curiosity, which I might mention in a conversation about Cry’s adventure. But very soon she convinced me of her qualities and in the end I couldn’t resist and had to finish it. Out of sheer curiosity about what else I’ll discover and how far its developer will go. Whether or not you look for any sexual parallels in the book, you must appreciate how ingeniously David Balsamique ohnul some situations, realities and characters to your image. In practice, this means that certain cult props have a slightly different nature, or have changed the gender of certain characters so that Paul can undress and make happy almost everyone in the game, including his own mother.

If you are shocked, you should know that the game is not afraid of extremes. In addition to incest, you will come across anal sex, BDSM, rape, bukkake, oral sex killings and even more bizarre practices. You can then separately reduce the hardest ones associated with excretion directly in the game using the communication panel, which is a function that is very easy to overlook. I did not notice it until after finishing the main story within the endgame content that the game also offers. If you prefer freedom, you will probably be pleased with the fact that the game has several different endings and you can play them all in the end if you are interested. The soundtrack is also worth noting, but it must be added that its quality is not a coincidence. In this regard, the author simply “borrowed” an excellent soundtrack from the original game by Cry.

Where did I just hear that?

If you would like to try Behind The Dune yourself – and I highly recommend it – be sure to download the latest version 2.33 directly from the author’s official website, because the internet is of course full of older versions. This is not the only similar game created by David Balsamique. If you are interested in his work, you can also try the title Vega Hunters. If you like the author’s projects, you can support him on Patreon, and you will get to other exclusive content.

And that puts us at the very end. I firmly believe that you liked our eight-part series on the history of games according to Dune and you were interested. I paid a lot of attention to him precisely to help him eradicate some of the untruths and half-truths that are associated with these titles and the years keep repeating themselves. If you enjoyed it, we will be happy to follow it up in time with something similar. And if you have any gaps, be sure to recall the other chapters of this talk.
