Don’t install iOS 16.4 yet, but wait for 16.4.1
iOS 16.4 was released last week, and since then iPhone users have been complaining about various bugs. Fortunately, a new software update is imminent that fixes these bugs: iOS 16.4.1.
Read on after the ad.
Bug fixes in iOS 16.4.1
According to a source with a good track record for upcoming software updates, Apple is preparing to release iOS 16.4.1. It is not yet clear when the update will be available, but we expect it to be this week or next week.
Minor updates like iOS 16.4.1 focus on bug fixes and security enhancements. This is also necessary with iOS 16.4, because it contains some bugs. For example, there’s an issue with Apple’s Weather app where data won’t load.
iPhone users are also complaining about having to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords, which also appears to be a bug in iOS 16.4. The update iOS 16.4.1 would eliminate these kinds of errors. Haven’t installed iOS 16.4 yet? Then wait a while before updating until the new interim software update is out.
To see which iOS version is on your iPhone, do the following:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap on ‘Software Update;
- View at the bottom of the screen which iOS you have.
iOS 16.5
In the meantime, Apple is also working on iOS 16.5: a test version was released last week. As a result, we already know what the innovations are. For example, there will be an option to start a screen recording with Siri. The update is expected to be released in May.
The fact that the iPhone is getting really big innovations again is with iOS 17. The announcement of this will not take long. Apple announced the WWDC 2023 date last week: June 5. On this day we know what the big iPhone features of 2023 are. The other operating systems – including macOS 14 and watchOS 10 – will also be presented.
