Do you have to take out another subscription to a streaming service soon?
Another streaming service from the US is going international, so an entrance to the Netherlands cannot be ruled out. It’s about Paramount+: why would we want this too?
The popularity of the streaming service exploded not long ago. Instigator or the one who made it such a hit was Netflix. A kind of digital video library, so you can access thousands of series and movies from the comfort of your home. It works: Netflix is still extremely popular. However, with the shrinking offer on Netflix and the rapidly growing offer of competitors, that is going to change and more and more are being added.
Streaming services
We already have a few popular ones in the Netherlands: Videoland was introduced quite quickly as a Dutch angle, Amazon’s Prime Video has been available for a while and since a little less long you can also get Disney+ and HBO Max. In order to allow as many people as possible to opt for a particular service in addition to ‘originals’ (own series), series and films fly from one streaming service to another. All this has to do with broadcasting rights from the original provider. There is a chance that even more series will disappear from all these services as a new streaming service is on the way to conquer Europe: Paramount+.
Paramount Plus
Paramount+ is the new name of a streaming service of American channel CBS. You also know Paramount of course from producing many blockbusters in the film world. Paramount has now officially announced that they are coming to Europe. In the US, the streaming service has already reached 40 million users with an explosive increase since 2022. The rollout in Europe will start in the UK and Ireland, where Paramount has signed a deal with Sky to offer the service.
Potentially many titles on Paramount+, a large broadcaster behind it, explosive increases and now a rollout in Europe. We will probably hear more from this umpteenth streaming service. Paramount+ has two versions of the subscription so far: with or without ads and restrictions on HD playback. The cheapest version costs $4.99 per month and the expensive version $9.99. Something to keep an eye on!
