Distribution of Windows 11, a system designed for -apkrig games, begins
More than six years after the launch of Windows 10, its successor is coming. The number series continues, so from today, selected users can upgrade to eleven and start exploring in a sharp version what awaits them in the coming decade. According to Microsoft, the new system should be relevant for just as long, which will of course allow continuous updates, as was the case with previous versions. It is interesting to watch how the team from Redmond talks about Windows 11 in various places on the Internet, where the system is promoted as an ideal helper for work, browsing the Internet and, of course, playing. In the latter case, Microsoft ‘s gaming division treats the statement that Windows 11 is the system created for games, which is based on several previously discussed properties.
“The big day is finally here: Windows 11 has reached out to users around the world,” said the editor-in-chief of Microsoft’s official Xbox Wire website. Recalls that the new system will gradually be available to all Windows 10 users for free in the form of an update, but this is only one way to eleven get. Microsoft has gradually reduced the requirements that a computer must meet in order to run the new system, and it will be possible to install Windows 11 manually on older machines, such as the original BIOS and without the TPM. However, even with regard to which computer you install Windows 11 on, the user experience will also take place, which, according to Xbox Wire, should ideally be tailored to the players. “With great graphics and amazing speed, games in Windows 11 can look better than ever before,” added Will Tuttle.
But what we could really feel as gamers is the involvement of DirectStorage technology, which was first introduced on the new Xbox.
So what does that mean? First and foremost, the system comes with support for automatic HDR, so if you have a matching monitor, you should feel the change in more than 1,000 games, according to Microsoft. On the other hand, it is about automatic feature, so if the game doesn’t offer HDR natively, the result may not be as stunning as the often very compelling ads and banners promise. But what we could really feel as gamers is the involvement of DirectStorage technology, which was first introduced on the new Xbox. Again, titles must directly support this feature, but if so, data from the hard disk or SSD can be processed by the graphics card in DirectX 12 directly without tekla through the processor, which actually results in faster data streaming and the ability to offer even better graphics without impacting the framerate, or with the existing graphics quality setting even more framerate.
From a user perspective, it’s also encouraging that Windows 11 already has an integrated Xbox app, so you’ll never get confused about exactly what you want to run. Just a reminder, there are currently several applications on Windows 10 that at first glance look like that game center, but from another location you can access, for example, titles from the Game Pass (Xbox app) and from another to your Xbox Console Companion games. The store was also fragmented, which also suffered from problems associated with connecting to a specific account – it could happen that game applications are logged in to one account and Microsoft Store in a different one, so when buying a game you can find out that you bought it to an account you don’t normally use to play. It will all be – perhaps – the end of this, although we are still far from evaluating how Windows 11 works in this regard.
In addition to the official information, there are the first mentions from players or journalists who have already started to take full advantage of Windows 11, and these may not necessarily be as cheerful as it seems from the previous paragraphs. For example, Tom’s Guide warns of problems, stating that the promised increase in game performance may fall back to zero or even negative numbers if the VBS virtualization layer remains enabled in Windows 11. If you’re upgrading to Windows 11 from a previous system or reinstalling on your own computer, you don’t have to worry, but if you buy a kit with a preinstalled system, VBS will probably be turned on. Tom’s Guide editors have already tried the first games and found that Horizon Zero Dawn, Metro Exodus or Shadow of the Tomb Raider work with VBS in terms of frame rate a quarter slower than without VBS. And as you probably know, deactivating an already running VBS is not so easy and it would probably mean interfering with the registry, which is not dizzyingly complicated, but it is definitely not an operation that most users would be familiar with.
