Disney+ launches subscription with ads, first in the United States
After Netflix, it’s Disney+’s turn to offer its subscription with advertising. That concerned today the United States, other countries like France will have it in the course of 2023.
In detail, Disney + Basic (this is the name of the subscription) broadcasts four minutes of advertisements per hour. There are spots of 15 to 30 seconds at the start. Note that child-oriented content does not have ads. Profiles aimed at children are also ad-free with this plan. Later, the streaming service will offer “a complete range of advertising products”, but there is no detail about it.
In terms of supply, Disney+ is more generous than Netflix. Indeed, the content is available in 4K HDR / Dolby Vision, where it is limited to 1080p at Netflix. Also, it is possible to use the account on four devices simultaneously, against only one at Netflix. As for the profiles, it is possible to create seven of them. Finally, the catalog seems identical between the standard subscription and that of the advertisements. At Netflix, part of the catalog is not available with the cheaper offer.
The Disney+ Basic subscription with ads costs $7.99/month. It is also possible to take a pack adding Hulu for $9.99/month. And adding ESPN+, the price is $12.99/month. Regarding the Disney+ offer without advertising, the price is $10.99/month.
In France, Disney+ costs 8.99€/month. We can imagine that the offer with advertising will cost as much and that without advertising will go to 10.99€/month.
