Disney+ changes Marvel series after premiere

With the number of films and series in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), you can sometimes lose track. Even the creators at Marvel feel that way, or they are not always allowed to know everything about each other during production. A detail was therefore changed at Disney + afterwards.

We remember: In the finale of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” this takes place on Liberty Island, exactly where the famous Statue of Liberty in New York stands. It is currently being extensively renovated in the film and appears copper-colored again and not the green patina we know it to be. It is well known that such a patina takes years to develop. Not so in the MCU, because in the series “Ms. Marvel,” the Statue of Liberty then curiously reappeared in green, not copper.

Disney+ is now changing “Ms. Marvel” because of Spider-Man

How can this be, after all, the events of “Ms. Marvel” shortly after “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the series itself was released half a year after the movie in the summer of 2022. A film mistake? That’s how it is, because Disney+ has now quietly corrected the detail and the Statue of Liberty shines copper-colored again like in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. Ergo: Film and series go together better. Hats off to so much attention to detail.

But there is still a problem at first glance: where is the oversized one Captain America’s shield that the Statue of Liberty wears in the last Spider-Man movie? It’s completely missing. The likely explanation: During the final fight, the shield falls to the ground and is destroyed. Apparently, the MCU decided against putting the shield back in place, preferring the classic depiction of the Statue of Liberty as seen in “Ms. Marvel” to see.

The MCU this year on Disney+

Speaking of the MCU and Disney+. This year, four new Marvel films and up to seven new series will land on the streaming service. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will start on February 1st. The last film in the MCU was released in cinemas in November 2022 and is now celebrating its streaming premiere on Disney+ after more than two months. The series “Secret Invasion” will follow in the spring, in which there will be a reunion with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

And also with “Ms. Marvel” there is a reunion. “The Marvel’s” will be in cinemas at the end of July and could end up on Disney + as early as October. Perhaps the film will give us another up-to-date view of the copper-colored Statue of Liberty.
