Discounter sells Smartwatch at a bargain price

It should be an Apple Watch? Then you’re in luck: This week Aldi is offering the cult smartwatch for little money. We’ll tell you if the deal is worth it – because there are two caveats to consider.

Smartwatches are often expensive, especially when they have a bitten apple logo. All the more surprising when the Apple Watch is offered for little money in Aldi’s online shop. That is the case this week.

Aldi Nord offers Apple Watch Series 3 for 169 euros

Starting this week, April 28, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd will be offering the Apple Watch Series 3 in their joint online shop for a low price of 169 euros. The discounter undercuts the price at Apple itself by 50 euros. The small model is available in black (see in the Aldi online shop) or silver (see in the Aldi online shop) with a case diameter of 38 mm.

Before you strike, however, you should be aware of two limitations: Firstly, it is not a new product. Aldi sells refurbished Apple Watches under the Renewd brand. These are smartwatches that have already been used but have been refurbished and are now going on sale again. If, on the other hand, you buy from Apple itself, you get new goods. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the extra 50 euros is worth it. But there is still a two-year guarantee.

In addition, the Series 3 is already a few years old. the Smartwatch was released in 2017 and is now technically lagging behind. Many new watchOS features are not available on the smartwatch, and due to the low memory, Apple even advises unpairing the watch from the iPhone before updating to a new OS version. It is doubtful whether the Apple Watch Series 3 will receive watchOS 9 this year. According to experts, it should be phased out.
