Developers from Riot Games announce the mobile version of Valorant -apkrig
Exactly a year ago, the developers from Riot Games introduced their team shooter Valorant. The way of marketing and the possibility of engaging in the game through invitations that fell to the partners’ chat on Twitch, attracted a lot of attention to the game, especially when it was referred to as a possible successor to Counter-Strike. After all, we’re talking about Riot Games – the company that gave the world one of the most popular e-sports games, League of Legends, so no one doubted the ambitions, and for a while it seemed that this bold plan could be fulfilled. However, the situation is a bit different after 365 days, but definitely still very good for Valorant, and according to information published today, it has the title of 14 million active players per month. That in itself would be a reason to celebrate, but Riot Games brings a gift in the form of a mobile version announcement, which should help spread awareness of Valorant as such and attract even more people to play.
The developers did not say much about the mobile version in the press release. Executive producer Anna Donlon only stated that the mobile version will stand on its own and there will be no direct link with large Valorant on PC. The situation thus copies, for example, the distribution of Call of Duty, which is definitely a valid and functional model, where the title can be financially and game-wise successful in both parts of the game spectrum. “Just as we do not want to bring an inadequate experience for mobile players, we do not want to enter computer gaming in any way. I’m not trying convert Valorant from PC to mobile phones and vice versa, “Donlon confirmed in an interview with the editors of Polygon magazine. In particular, it tried to reassure existing players that they had nothing to fear and expect the overall development of the game to be maintained regardless of anything. Riot Games strives to play the best possible way on specific platforms with an emphasis on what players like and how standards are set, so it will not simplify the PC version, nor will it make it too difficult to use a tactical shooter on a mobile phone display.
It may be weird, but transferring Valorant to mobile phones was a little easier for us than trying to do the same with the console version.
According to the producer, this also applies to a possible console version, which would certainly be offered and at this point, unlike the mobile version, could allow mutual play. But nothing is as easy as it seems, and Donlon is worried that delegating tactical action to the console might not work very well. “It may be weird, but transferring Valorant to mobile phones was a little easier for us [než se o to samé snažit s konzolovou verzí]. This type of game – tactical shooter – is not entirely simple on consoles. It’s not easy to maintain such a level of competitive integrity on a driver-driven platform, “explains Anna Donlon, and she almost seems to have swept the hope of a console version off the table. In many ways, however, the taste of Riot, dealing with other ports or versions, can stimulate interest in the mobile Valorant, which we are supposed to see until our second birthday, ie June 2022.
