Deutsche Bahn changes service: guests have to stay outside
Deutsche Bahn is changing the access requirements for the DB Lounges. In future, these may only be entered by people with a valid first-class long-distance ticket. Accompanying persons are no longer desired, at least in the premium area of the lounges.
Deutsche Bahn: Only with a ticket to the DB Lounge
Free WiFi, free drinks and mobile phones can be charged: Travelers can while away the time in Deutsche Bahn’s DB Lounges. But anyway exclusive access will be further restricted from March 1, 2023. In any case, rail customers must present a valid ticket. Guests without a train ticket will then no longer have access to the premium area of the DB Lounge.
In future, customers will be able to access the DB Lounge with a First class long-distance ticket in the Flexpreis tariff possible. BahnBonus status customers now have to be in possession of a first or second class ticket. A saver price or super saver price ticket is also valid as access authorization (source: Deutsche Bahn).
Rail customers with a first-class Bahncard 100 may stay in the DB Lounge just like rail customers with a second-class Bahncard 100, as long as the BahnComfort logo is printed on it. Railteam customers and customers of cooperation partners of Deutsche Bahn will not be turned away after March 1st either.
With the ICE L, a new long-distance train will soon be available:
DB Lounges: Legitimacy of rail customers is being checked
In the future, too, rail customers will have to enter their Hold the ticket in front of an electronic reader or show it to a DB employee. Then they get access to laptop workstations with free WiFi. Newspapers and magazines are also available. Electronic devices can be charged via sockets.
There is also a selection of free non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks. In the premium area of the DB Lounge, which can only be found at a few German train stations, there is also beer and small snacks.
