Samsung put everything on one card – and won. The widely criticized death of a smartphone classic seems to have paid off in full for the South Koreans. Especially the comparison with the predecessors is impressive.
Sometimes a fresh start can work wonders. What is true in love is also true in the smartphone industry. This year, Samsung finally pulled the plug on the Galaxy Note series. After all, the industry leader has provided an adequate replacement with the Galaxy S22 Ultra and seems to have landed a real hit with it.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra should sell better than its predecessor
Around 11 million piecesaccording to current estimates from China, could bring Samsung to the people from the Galaxy S22 Ultra (via SamMobile). This would make the top smartphone the Surpass the sales figures of its direct predecessors, in some cases significantly. For comparison: Samsung is said to have sold only 7.5 million units of the last regular Note offshoot, the Galaxy Note 20 from 2020.
You’d have to go way back on the calendar to find a point in time when Samsung had similar success with the Note series: 2017. Still The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was sold 10.3 million times at the time. However, that was 5 years ago.
Of course, the year is not over yet: Higher inflation and thus a declining mood to buy, increased competition in the second half of the year, possible delivery problems, etc. – many reasons could slow down the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s soaring again. At least from today’s perspective, Samsung seems to have done everything right with the end of the Note series.

Inexpensive foldable smartphones from Samsung only in 2024
Samsung is now using the space that the pen smartphone has freed up for its folding cell phones. The presentation of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected in August. However, the promising devices will probably not be cheap. It is not until 2024 that Samsung is supposed to turn the price screw down significantly and offer foldable smartphones at a low price.
