Out of 95 devices tested on their DAS in 2021, the ANFR pinned nine models. Brands like Nokia, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Sony are implicated. Worse yet, the Razer Phone 2 is simply being withdrawn from sale.
Each year, the National Frequency Agency tests a selection of smartphones marketed. This task falls within the framework of its mission of controlling the exposure of the general public to electromagnetic waves. This Thursday, July 8, the agency has just published its report of the 95 models tested during the year 2020. On the whole of this selection, 9 phones saw their SAR exceed the standard. The ANFR requests that an update be made on certain products.
The trunk SAR of 9 phones are too high and need to be updated
For information, here are already the reference standards for the different categories of SAR, short for Specific Absorption Rate.
- The Head: this is the use where the product is put to the ear, the accepted value must be at most 2W / KG
- The Trunk: when the mobile is within reach of your trunk, whether in your hands in a bag or other. The maximum value must also be 2W / Kg.
- The Member: when the phone is in your pocket or an armband. The maximum authorized value is 4W / Kg.
Of the 95 products, 10 were also tested on the member SAR while 56 were also entitled to the head test. No irregularities were noted by the ANFR. On the other hand, 9 smartphones were pinned for their Absorption Rate at the Trunk. In fact, most of them oscillated on values between 0.411 W / kg and 3.48 K / kg. An average of 1.10 W / kg was seen on most models except nine of them.
In the list of models in question we find well-known brands such as OnePlus, Sony, Xiaomi or Nokia. Each time, the manufacturer has decided on an update that has adjusted the wave rate emitted. It worked for everyone except the Razer Phone 2 pulled from sales as a result. Here is the list in detail:
- The Sony Xperia 5 was measured at 2.64 K / kg and increased to 1.13 K / kg
- The Nokia 7 Plus went from 3.48 W / kg to 1.58 K / kg
- The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 went from 2.45 W / kg to 1.12 W / kg
- The Xiaomi Redmi 7 went from 2.01 W / kg to 0.951 W / kg
- The Gigaset GS270 Plus has gone from 2.37 W / kg to 0.898 W / kg
- The Logicom Le Hola went from 2.58 W / kg to 1.61 W / kg
- Nokia 3.1 went from 2.73 W / kg to 1.82 W / kg
- The OnePlus 6T went from 2.56 W / kg to 1.17 W / kg
For information, the Razer Phone 2 was recorded at 3.29 W / kg. As you will have understood, the ANFR still remains attentive to products in terms of health. A few weeks earlier the agency had delivered its full report on 5G. It is not uncommon to see products purely withdrawn from sale. If you want to find the complete list in question, you can find it on the website of the Phonegate Alert Association.
