Customers of provider T-Mobile, Simpel, Ben and Tele2 receive ghost text messages. Several customers report receiving text messages such as ‘Welcome to Germany’ and other countries as well.

‘Welcome to…’ SMS

When you’re at home on the couch, you suddenly receive a text ‘Welcome to Germany’. It happens and happened today to customers with a telephone number at T-Mobile. Due to a malfunction, customers receive text messages with ‘Welcome to Belgium’. Other countries such as ‘Welcome to France’ or ‘Welcome to Germany’ have already passed by. The same applies to Denmark and Portugal. So many countries seem to pass by.

The problem does not only occur at T-Mobile itself, but also at subsidiaries. This means that customers of Ben, Tele2 and Simpel can also receive an SMS. From Marianne we received a screenshot of the SMS ‘Welcome to Germany’, while she is far from that destination. Not all customers receive an SMS that they are abroad.

Although it can cause confusion, customers need not worry, the provider reports. It is a malfunction, but a unique malfunction. This has never happened before, according to the magenta-colored provider. The cause of the malfunction is being sought.
