Garmin has announced the Instinct 2 series. These are multisport smartwatches with about four weeks of battery life. The watches have a suggested retail price from 349.99 euros and there is even a version especially for truck drivers.

Garmin Instinct 2 – health and sports

The Instinct 2 series comes in two sizes: a 45mm housing and a new Instinct 2S with a smaller 40mm housing. The smartwatches also have the military standard 810 for thermal and shock resistance and are water resistant to 100 meters.

Furthermore, the Instinct 2 series features Garmin’s fitness features and health monitoring, including sleep score with Advanced Sleep Monitoring. But the health statistics via Body Battery and the Health Snapshot function are also available. With the latter function, you get a complete picture of important data such as heart rate, heart rate variability, Pulse Ox, breathing and stress in 2 minutes.

Fitness enthusiasts can also take advantage of information about VO2 Max, Fitness Age, Recovery Time, and Training Status/Load/Effect. There are also HIIT workouts and Daily Recommended Workouts on the smartwatches, as well as a new multisport activity that allows users to switch between activities and continue to monitor their total time and distance.

Long battery life

The Instinct 2 can be used in smartwatch mode for up to four weeks. The Instinct 2 Solar models last even longer in smartwatch mode. Garmin introduces a new standard for battery life.

Personalize Garmin Instinct 2

According to Garmin, the Instinct 2 and Instinct 2S are cool smartwatches for anyone who wants to express his or her personal style. The manufacturer is referring to the colorful versions and the Your Watch, Your Way program. Available at short notice, this program lets users create their own Instinct 2 or 2S Solar. They can choose over 240 different design combinations because of the various bezels and wristbands.

In addition, there are a number of ‘special editions’ of the Instinct 2. Garmin provides the following explanation of the three special editions.

• Surf Editions: With special water sports activities such as surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding. A tide widget keeps users informed about the sea situation. Users can track their activities and view them later through Surfline Sessions. The Surf editions are available in a regular Instinct 2 and a smaller Instinct 2S model with or without solar charging.
• Tactical Editions: Popular with military personnel. The Instinct 2 Solar – Tactical Edition adds special tactical features such as a Kill Switch, Stealth mode, jumpmaster mode, pairing with night vision goggles and dual format coordinates (including military grid). Available in Coyote Tan or Black.
• Camo Editions: The camouflage patterns allow users to blend in or stand out depending on their location. Whether it’s the concrete jungle or the real jungle

As with other Garmin watches, the Instinct 2 series allows users to let family and friends track their activities. And in the event of an emergency, contacts can be notified. Garmin Pay is also present, although this service is not yet supported by all banks.

Garmin Instinct 2 for truck drivers

Garmin also comes with an Instinct 2 smartwatch made for truck drivers, the dēzl Edition. For this target group, the watch should help truck drivers maintain a healthy lifestyle while working. They can of course track their health 24/7 by monitoring heart rate, sleep, stress and more, but there is more.

When truck drivers get out of the cab, they can use specially developed workouts on the watch that fit their daily routine.

• View detailed workouts for short breaks via the dēzl app on the user’s smartphone;
