Soundcore Space A40 review
Anchor blows high from the tower with the Soundcore Space A40. The earphones have Hi-Res audio and offer up to 98% noise reduction, a playtime of no less than 10 hours on one charge and a total playtime of 50 hours. And that for less than 100 euros, the earphones cost € 99.00. So almost too good to be true. We have tested these earphones for you to see if they are really as good as the manufacturer claims.
In the package
Let’s start with the packaging. The square box naturally contains the earphones and the charging case. We also find some booklets in the package, just like a USB-C cable and a total of five different earplugs in different sizes – XS, S, M, L and XL.
In use
Connecting the earphones to a smartphone or laptop is a piece of cake. Before we start listening, we download the Soundcore app so that we can immediately set up the sound and gestures. While listening and playing with the settings, we noticed that the earphones provide little bass. Fortunately, you can set the equalizer with the complete app if you like a lot of bass.
You can choose from a large number of preset modes, but you can also get started with the equalizer yourself. You also have the choice to use the noise canceling or to use the transparency mode. With the latter mode you hear your surroundings, with noise canceling this is not the case. The noise canceling works very well. You have very little trouble with external noises, even outside with a strong wind you hardly hear the wind.
The noise canceling itself also has a number of modes, for example for a noisy environment or a somewhat quieter environment. When you have set the sound to your own taste, you will notice that the sound is of great quality. Of course we also tested the microphone by using the earphones during Teams meetings. Colleagues indicated that they could understand me perfectly. This was also the case the other way around.
Battery life
Anker claims that the Soundcore Space A40 will last 10 hours on one battery charge. This is indeed possible, but if you use noise canceling you will not achieve this. With noise canceling on, you get between 8 and 9 hours, which is of course still very neat. In addition, the earphones have fast charging, 10 minutes in the charging case and you can use it for another four hours.
Rating
Anker has put a great pair of earphones on the market with the Soundcore Space A40. The sound is fantastic, the battery life on one charge and in combination with the charging case is great and the noise canceling works very well. The earphones have few drawbacks. The only downsides we can think of are: out-of-the-box little bass and music does not pause automatically when you remove the earphones.
You can buy the Anker Soundcore Space A40 at Amazon (now with a big Black Friday discount) and Bol.com.
