Chrome for Android gets new share menu: QR code and screenshot editor
A new feature is being rolled out widely for Chrome for Android. With the latest server-side update you will see a new share menu. Among other things, the QR option stands out, along with its own screenshot editor.
Google Chrome with new share menu
Google is quietly rolling out a new share menu for the Android browser Chrome. In recent times, clues have surfaced several times for the new submenu. This could be forced, for example, by enabling it at the ‘flags’, where you have access to developer options in the browser. Now Google seems to have started rolling out this version to everyone.
When sharing a web page you will then see this new share menu. Here you will first see the apps with which you can share the content. Below that are extra options, which we did not see in Chrome before. You can choose from five options, several of which we already know.
Screenshot editor
The Screenshot Editor in Chrome is new. A screenshot is immediately taken, where you can crop it, add text or draw it if desired. You can also adjust the size and color of this. Then choose ‘next’ after the edits, and you can choose to share the screenshot or to save it.
QR code
Another new function that can now be used is the QR code. You can create a QR code from a webpage with Chrome, after which someone else can scan it via Chrome (or another app). You can also download it for your device so that you can have it scanned at a later time.
