choose the font and put your text in bold
In WhatsApp you can change the font of your message text and also choose whether you want to send text in bold, italics or even crossed out. We explain how you can easily adjust that layout before you send a message.
Customize WhatsApp layout
WhatsApp is of course not an e-mail application à la Outlook or Gmail. So you do not get extensive options with which you can adjust the format of the text in WhatsApp messages. You are therefore more likely to get started with emoji, gifs or stickers to shape your messages.
However, the app does contain options to change the layout. You can choose a different font, put the text in bold, italics or strikethrough. Unfortunately, this doesn’t allow you to use larger letters and there’s only one other font to choose from, but it’s still a nice feature in popular messaging app.
That is how it works
Do you also want to use these formatting functions in WhatsApp? We explain how it works in the step-by-step plan below.
Roadmap
- Open WhatsApp
- Choose a conversation and then first type your app as you normally would
- Select the piece of text you want to adjust
- You will see a pop-up that includes ‘Cut’ and ‘Copy’, press the menu with the three dots
- Tap the formatting option you want to apply
