The last time we wrote about the mysterious game Abandoned by the Dutch team BLUE BOX Game Studios was at the beginning of December, when the developers lured that the title prologue would be published in the first quarter of 2022. The authors promised to share more information and now it has happened. They published the first ever blog post on their official website and let us take a look at their plans. Ever since they announced Abandoned for the PS5 in April, they have said they have faced several hardships during development. They reiterated that the game has been under construction since 2017 and its concept has changed several times. The authors also regret that, in addition to the big title, they also played some smaller games. At the beginning of this year, they reportedly decided to focus exclusively on Abandoned. But when the title was announced in April, it did not yet match their vision, the authors add a little confused. And that’s why they decided to rework the whole game.

Then the speech turns to the infamous and repeatedly postponed Realtime Experience application, which was to show Abandoned in an unplayable demo rendered live on the PS5. According to the developers, they wanted to show the game and its technology, but this led to further stress, unfulfilled deadlines and chaotic development. The team announced the application in June and now says it was too early and the studio was under pressure from constant speculation. This affected the team again and in the end the application itself was postponed not once, but twice, the authors recall. And the result did not please the player either, it is necessary to deliver with one breath.

Now the developers say they do not want to repeat the same mistakes they made in the past. It was a great lesson for them. They want to give us a game we will enjoy. But they are still promising… At the beginning of the new year, the studio wants to start with a tech demo in the Realtime Experience application. This arrives along with an update that transforms the entire application. The tech demo aims to demonstrate the technology that drives Abandoned and convert the graphics in real time. In addition, it will present sound and haptic feedback on the DualSense driver, which the authors say adds another layer to their horror experience.

In the first quarter, we have to look forward to the mentioned prologue, which is probably something other than the named tech demo, but it is difficult to know the complicated plans of the team. The authors just made sure that they worked hard to show everything in the best possible way and wish everyone a nice holiday.

Twitter user nicknamed Pyo later wrotethat is called Laila, and showed the whole picture that appeared in the news app on the PS5. And indeed, as we have verified, the image comes from the game’s interface on the PS5. We do not know what kind of woman she will be and what role she will play in the game. But other players then started pointing out possible connections with Kojima…
