Check out the latest Disney + movie for an absurd extra amount
Disney + unleashes the money-hungry Premiere Access construction on the latest animated movie, Raya and the Last Dragon.
Disney continues with Mulan’s highly controversial revenue model. The remake of the classic animation film was made available to Disney + customers for an additional cost of more than twenty euros. That turned out to be a huge success. Now Disney + is doing that for Raya and the Last Dragon.
Disney + asks for cash for Raya and the Last Dragon
Due to the corona pandemic, film studios can no longer release their content in the cinema. Disney, on the other hand, has a huge advantage with their own streaming service. So, for Disney + subscribers, there is an option to check out the latest movie, Raya and the Last Dragon, in your ‘home theater’ via Premier Access.
That is to say, for a much too expensive digital entrance ticket on top of the usual subscription costs! In addition to a subscription to Plus, Disney also asks € 21.99 to watch the film. You can watch Raya and the Last Dragon as often as you want, but there is a catch …
Just like Mulan, the film will eventually end up on Disney + for everyone. From June 4, everyone with a Disney + subscription can check out the latest big budget animated film ‘for free’.
When Mulan came out, there was a lot of criticism of this somewhat stingy construction. Okay, if you go to the cinema for an evening with the family, you might lose 5 times as much. But compare the price with, for example, YouTube Film, where you pay no more than € 14.99 for a brand new film. You can then watch the film indefinitely for at least 5 years (without a subscription).
