[CES 2022] PlayStation VR2: Sony unveils name and technical specifications
Sony detailed a bit his PlayStation VR2 headset at CES 2022. The name has been formalized, although it comes as no surprise. It should be noted in passing that there is no space between VR and 2. This headset will concern players on PlayStation 5 who want to play in virtual reality.
PlayStation VR2 details
Sony did not take advantage of the presentation at CES 2022 to unveil images of the PlayStation VR2. On the other hand, the group shared the technical characteristics:
- OLED display
- Definition of 2000 x 2400 pixels per eye
- 90 or 120 Hz display rate
- Adjustable lens separation
- Field of view of approximately 110 degrees
- Motion sensor: six-axis motion detection system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer)
- Attachment sensor: infrared proximity sensor
- Four cameras for headset tracking and infrared camera controller for eye-to-eye tracking
- Vibration on the helmet
- USB-C connection
- 3d audio
There is still no information on the price or release date of the headphones. Along with the announcement of the PlayStation VR2, Sony also unveiled a first-party game for the system, titled Horizon Call of the Mountain. It is developed by Guerrilla Games and Firesprite, the latter of which was recently acquired and added to PlayStation Studios. Here is the teaser:
This game takes place in the same universe as Horizon zero dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, and players will even have the opportunity to meet Aloy alongside other characters.
