The popular music streaming service Spotify officially introduced its a few hours ago the very first hardware device. New with the name Car Thing is, as its name suggests quite clearly, designed to play songs and podcasts in the car. It will be especially useful for people who like to listen to content from Spotify while driving, want to have its control simply at hand, but at the same time do not want to have a phone strapped in front of them. Car Thing is advanced and also smart intermediary between mobile and audio system in the vehicle.

The device has a large display and several hardware buttons that dominate large multifunction knob, through which you can scroll the content on the screen by rotating and tapping. At the top are four preset buttons for accessing stored playlists. Car Thing can also be controlled by voice via the command “Hey Spotify” and has no problem connecting directly with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
The novelty can be glued to the dashboard, attached to the fan grille or in the groove for the CD. The price of “car stuff” is $ 80 (approx. CZK 1,750) and to order it, there is currently a “stand”, in which those interested must register on the official website. At the moment, availability is limited to the US territory, but we have succeeded also register with a domestic Spotify account. We’ll see what happens.
