Poco M3 officially unveiled: these are the specs
With a suggested retail price of 149 euros, the Poco M3 is a real budget smartphone. The standard model has 64GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM. A version with 128GB storage is also available. The Poco M3 comes in different colors (blue, yellow and black) and is available in the Netherlands from December 3.
The Poco M3 is particularly notable for its battery, which is huge with a capacity of 6000 mAh. According to Xiaomi, the smartphone lasts about three days with normal use. If you are a light user, you could even go without charging for five days. In the box of the Poco phone is a 22.5 Watt fast charger, but the charging itself is with 18 Watt. This means you don’t have to wait very long until the phone is full again.
- 6.53 inch screen with small notch (2340 by 1080 pixels)
- Snapdragon 662 chip, with 4GB RAM and 64 / 128GB storage
- 6000 mAh battery lasts a long time, 18 Watt fast charging
- Triple camera on the back: 48 + 2 + 2 megapixels
- 8 megapixel front camera for selfies
- Plastic housing, stereo speakers and fingerprint scanner
- Runs on Android 10 with MIUI software
The screen is 6.53 inches in size and has a water drop notch. The resolution is 2340 by 1080 pixels and the edges around the display are fairly thin. On the back is a triple camera of 48, 2 and 2 megapixels respectively. This concerns a normal camera, macro camera and depth sensor.
The primary camera also has a night mode, so you can shoot better photos in the dark. With the macro lens you can take very close pictures, for example of a flower or insect. The depth sensor is there for portrait photos with a depth of field effect. You can use the 8-megapixel front camera for selfies, video calls and face recognition.
Striking design and fingerprint scanner in the side
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 662 processor, which is aimed at cheaper Android phones. The Snapdragon 662 is also included in the Motorola Moto G9 Power (which also has a 6000 mAh battery) and Moto G9 Play, for example. Combined with the 4GB of RAM, the Poco M3 must deliver excellent performance.
Xiaomi has given the Poco M3 a striking design, especially the large camera island which catches the eye. The Poco logo is also quite prominent. The housing is made of plastic, but according to the manufacturer it is ‘water-resistant’. The fingerprint scanner is not on the front or back, but we see it on the side of the housing. This allows you to easily unlock the smartphone with your thumb.
