Breda gives cyclists green faster and longer with ‘Schwung app’

The city of Breda has run a trial with the Schwung app in recent years. The application can communicate with smart traffic lights, making everything better coordinated. For cyclists, a traffic light turns green sooner if they have the app. The app informs the traffic light that the cyclist is on the way. The traffic light ensures that traffic is controlled more efficiently in a smart way, so that the cyclist is less likely to stand at a red light for less time and less often.

According to the City Council of Breda, it is the intention that all traffic lights in Breda are made smarter and can handle the Schwung app. It is expected that from this autumn it will be possible to have the app communicate with all traffic lights in Breda.
