Breaking into Apple Store: This is what happened
Burglars had found a very easy way to steal a large load of iPhones. In Lynwood, Washington, the Apple Store at Alderwood Mall was broken into on the weekend of April 1 and 2. The thieves made off with a hefty loot: 436 iPhones with a total value of around 450,000 euros.
The thieves had managed to break into the Apple Store in a very special way. They had first gained access to a coffee bar next door. There they made a hole in the toilets. Then they ended up in a back room of the Apple Store. The Apple Store’s security system never went off.
The owner of the coffee bar next door has put a photo of the hole made by the thieves on the internet. It could just become the plot of a new Ocean’s movie… Check out the photo below.
According to the manager, it is not even easy to see that the coffee bar is adjacent to the Apple Store. He also said that before breaking into the Apple Store, the thieves needed to know the exact layout of the mall.
The US police have now received the video footage of the nightly burglary. However, because the investigation is still ongoing, no images have been released yet. Remarkably, nothing was stolen from the coffee bar. But it does cost a small 1400 euros to replace the toilets and locks.
Incidentally, no employees were present during the break-in in the Apple Store. The mall had already closed its doors for that evening.
