Brave Search can now be set as Brave Browser’s default search engine

Brave Search has officially replaced Google and DuckDuckGo in the Brave browser as the default search engine. If you use Brave as a browser, you will now see Brave Search instead of Google as a search engine.

Brave Browser has already been active as a web browser for mobile and desktop for a number of years and was already working on its own search service in its public beta. It has now been released for the stable version of the Brave Browser. Brave Search replaces Google as the default search engine in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, Qwant in France, and DuckDuckGo in Germany.

Brave users can continue to use the default search engine of their choice or set Brave Search as the default search engine in Brave or other browsers. You do that as follows:

  1. Right-click in the address bar and select Manage search engines
  2. Find Brave Search click the ⋮ next to it
  3. click on Set as Default

This is how you do it on mobile:

  1. Go to the Institutions via the ⋮ at the bottom
  2. Tap on Search engines
  3. Select brave

No ads yet

Brave Search is currently ad-free, but that will change for the free version soon. This way the browser can make money. Brave Search will also offer an ad-free Premium version in the near future. Brave Search can be set in from version 1.31 of Brave for desktop and from version 1.31 of Brave for Android and 1.32 for iOS.

Brave Browser says it doesn’t do tracking. The browser automatically blocks things like third-party trackers and social media buttons. In addition, it does not collect IP addresses. Do you use Brave or a browser other than Chrome? Let us know in the comments below.
