Blue Beetle: first trailer for the new DC movie
Place to Blue Beetle, with today the first trailer for the next film from DC Studios. The main character, Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle, is played by Xolo Maridueña.
In the trailer, when Jaime goes to a job interview, he is handed a mysterious alien beetle inside a burger box. He waits until he’s with his family to open it, and that’s when the beetle attaches itself to Jaime’s body and transforms into a supersuit — a startling subversion of the classic comic book storyline that the superhero must hide his identity from family and friends. In the movie, they know from the start that Jaime is a superhero.
Blue Beetle’s version starring Jaime Reyes is known for being one of the most important Latino superheroes in comics, and the film will feature a mostly Latino cast, including George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar and Belissa Escobedo in the roles of Jamie’s family members. Bruna Marquezine embodies Penny, his companion, while Raoul Trujillo embodies the evil Carapax, the indestructible man.
The film Blue Beetle will be released in theaters on August 16. The director is Angel Manuel Soto, with a screenplay written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
