Highlighted some phones: Samsung Galaxy S23

The Samsung Galaxy S23 has dropped considerably in price and can therefore be found in our buying guide for the first time. You currently pay around 740 euros for the basic model from Samsung’s new high-end S23 series. For this you get a super-fast compact smartphone with a beautiful design, extensive camera island and good software support.

The compactness of the basic version of the South Korean manufacturer’s Galaxy S series always had the disadvantage that the battery was not very strong. However, this issue has now been resolved, the new more efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip being the main reason for this. It is the first time in years that Samsung integrates a Qualcomm processor in its S-series smartphones in Europe. For this, the manufacturer invariably used its own Exynos processors. These were less fast, but mainly much less economical, so the battery never really lasted long. So this has now changed.

However, a disadvantage that now sticks to the Galaxy S23 is ‘Banana Blur’. Many users of a Galaxy S23 or S23+ report problems with blurry, out-of-focus photos. Part of the photo is out of focus and you mainly see it on the right side in photos. The blur continues upwards in a curve. The out-of-focus portion looks like a banana-shaped blur, hence the name ‘Banana Blur’. Not all users report problems, but it is something to take into account.

Motorola Edge 30 Neo

Also new in the list is the Motorola Edge 30 Neo. This phone is mainly for those who like looking for an eye-catching smartphone and prefer a clean Android experience.

To start with the design, Motorola has entered into a partnership with Pantone for the Edge 30 Neo. This is a leading medium in the field of color. This collaboration has resulted in the Edge 30 Neo being available in a few sparkling colors, great job. The phone also has plenty to offer. For example, the device can be charged with a power of 68W, it has an excellent main camera and a solid wide-angle and macro camera and a nice compact 6.28 ” Full HD + OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Disadvantages of the smartphone are its moderate update policy and the processor used, which is certainly not the fastest you can find in a smartphone for this money.

The striking readers would also have seen that the Pixel 7a has replaced the ‘regular’ Pixel 7 in this list. The Pixel 7a is in many respects little inferior to its larger and more expensive brother. However, partly due to the price reduction, the latter is almost eighty euros more expensive. We recommend that you keep this money in your pocket. If you still want a phone with a better main camera and more luxurious design, the Pixel 7 is still a very good deal.
