Best Android apps in the Google Play Store week 27

Every Monday in the ‘Best Android apps’ section, we discuss a selection of cool apps with a high score in the Google Play Store. This time we discuss, among other things, a cool to-do list app from the makers of Forest and a handy app for listening to podcasts.

WaterDo: To Do List & Schedule

Do you know Forest? That app rewards you when you don’t look at your phone by creating a whole forest of trees for you. You do need a lot of perseverance, but you get a lot of focus (and trees) in return. WaterDo is its to-do list equivalent. Your to-do list becomes a kind of ball pit and you have to make sure you get rid of them all. Very satisfying, especially since you not only ‘clean’ in the app, but also do all sorts of tasks. It feels very good to burst such a bubble and, as far as we are concerned, the makers of Forest have struck gold with this app, even though it is yet another to-do list app.

PhotoPills

PhotoPills sounds like something people smuggle along to a festival, but it’s something completely different: it’s a (paid) app where you can shoot great pictures with the starry sky, the sun and the moon in a kind of augmented reality. There is 3D augmented reality built into the app with which you get the starry sky exactly right, exactly as it should be at that time and place. You can try all different options and make your photo as realistic or unrealistic as you want.

If you like podcasts and audio books, Podimo is your friend. This app is full of great podcasts in all genres that you want to hear. True crime, cultural backgrounds, history, news, science and of course our favorite genre: technology. Podimo is very personalized, so you can quickly find podcasts that suit you completely. There are also exclusive podcasts on Podimo: so especially if you’re used to listening to Spotify’s podcasts, this other podcast app can still surprise you. In addition, Podimo considers it of paramount importance that podcast makers share in the money that the subscription to this app costs.

Dreame

Dreame is for people who don’t want to listen to books, but want to read and collect them. The app is filled with the craziest fan fiction, juvenile literature, penny novels and all kinds of book genres to follow, read and even binge, if the app says so itself. Just like on Netflix, you get all kinds of recommendations based on what you’ve previously watched or read. Moreover, you will also hear it when your favorite author has a new book out. You can also read entire books in this app and you can adjust font size, type and more to make it as comfortable as possible on your smartphone.
