Best Android Apps in Google Play Store Week 47

In ‘Best Android apps’ we discuss a selection of cool apps with a high score in the Google Play Store every time. This time we discuss, among other things, an alternative to Google Keep and an app that makes notifications on your phone much smarter and more convenient.

WeNote

WeNote’s interface is somewhat similar to Google Keep, and the app inherits a lot of functions; including the ability to add attachments to notes and work with labels and colors. Still, WeNote comes with a number of advantages compared to Google’s app.

First of all, WeNote brings more options for text formatting. There are two fonts and five font sizes. In addition, the app has different themes and display options for the overview of your notes. You can make a copy of your notes or pin a note to the top of your phone’s notifications. Another special feature is that you can lock your notes using the fingerprint scanner. The app can sync your notes in Google Drive.

WeNote is free, but if you want access to all themes and a widget, you have to choose the paid version. This works via a one-off purchase where you purchase functions separately or a so-called combi-deal, although it is quite pricey. The free version may already be sufficient for you.

MagicEarth

Magic Earth advertises itself as a privacy-friendly navigation app that does not track its users or create profiles. All map data comes from OpenStreetmaps, and the app works for those who go by car, walk, cycle, or take public transport.

Interestingly, this app lets you choose between a 2D, 3D or satellite map view. The 3D view can help you navigate more easily. In addition, the app offers support for offline maps and a smart dashcam function that also warns you of dangers. Magic Earth notifies you about speed cameras on your route so you can avoid costly fines. Finally, when you arrive at your destination, you can discover parking spaces nearby. The app also has an integration with Wikipedia, so you can learn more about your destination.

BuzzKill – Phone Superpowers

Sometimes it is challenging to manage notifications on your phone. Not only because notifications can sometimes not arrive or with a delay, but also because there can be a lot of them. BuzzKill gives you more options to personalize notification behavior for individual apps.

Suppose you quickly get several apps in succession, then you don’t want your phone to vibrate again and again. BuzzKill has a solution for that with its ‘Cooldown’ function for apps that just sends you a notification once. On the other hand, there is an ‘Alarm’ for notifications that must attract your attention. Your phone will then make an alarm sound until you stop it. This feature works with security systems from Nest and Ring, among others. Want to know what else BuzzKill can do for you? Then read this extensive article.
