Best Android Apps in Google Play Store Week 3

In ‘best apps’ we discuss a selection of cool apps that can inspire you. This time we bring, among other things, a scanning application, an app to start exercising and one for winter sports enthusiasts.

Bergfex/Ski – ultimate winter sports app ski areas

If you are going skiing or snowboarding this year, it is wise to install Bergflex/Ski on your phone. This app lets you look at the camera images of more than 5,000 webcams from the major ski areas. You can also follow the weather forecast closely, and the app also keeps you informed via notifications if desired. It is also possible to compare several ski areas and mark them as favourites.

There are also maps with snow forecasts and you can also request detailed information about each ski area. This way you can see how much a ski pass costs and you can immediately rent equipment or book a hotel nearby.

Background Eraser

The Background Eraser app allows you to cut out the subject of a photo so that there is a transparent background. This app focuses on simplicity. There is an automatic mode that estimates which pixels belong together and then removes the background, but you can also manually highlight the subject. The latter works very accurately and then you also get a transparent background. You can then give that cut out figure a different background. A second possibility of this app is to keep the background, but cut out a part of the photo which then becomes transparent.

Do you want to build up more fitness in 2022? Then make sure you have a good strategy. The Start Running app helps you with that and gradually lets you get used to longer runs. Furthermore, the app can also count your calories and show on a map where you have walked. You get to see extensive statistics after each session. When you have progressed a bit further, you increase in level and you are always presented with a new goal.

Microsoft Lens – PDF Scanner

Microsoft Lens is a handy scanning application for saving notes from whiteboards. You use your phone’s camera to take a picture first and then comes the editing section to make everything more readable. There are special templates for, among other things, the pages of a book and business cards.

However, the app can do much more. Microsoft Lens includes algorithms that read handwriting and then convert it to text. You can work directly with those texts in tools such as Word, OneNote and PowerPoint. Another handy feature is a function to photograph tables so that you can immediately use the data in Excel.
