Benchmarks: iPhone 13 is 40% faster than Galaxy S22

Samsung announced this week its Galaxy S22 and the first benchmarks show that the iPhone 13 remains more efficient, with a certain margin moreover.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max outperforms the Galaxy S22 Ultra

To the Geekbench 5 benchmark carried out by PCMag, the Galaxy S22 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip scores 1,232 with one core and 3,433 with all cores. In comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro Max scores 1,721 and 4,706 respectively. Apple’s smartphone is therefore 39.69% faster with one core and 37.08% faster with all cores.

Samsung has chosen Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip for its Galaxy S22 in a few countries, including the United States. In Europe we have the Exynos 2200 chip from Samsung. The score with all hearts is around 3,000. Here again, Apple is ahead with its iPhone 13. It should be noted in passing that the European Galaxy S22s are a little less efficient than the American models. This is unfortunately nothing new, Exynos chips are generally worse when it comes to raw power.

Another benchmark is Geekbench ML for machine learning. The iPhone 13 Pro Max scores 948, compared to 448 for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The A15 chip of the latest iPhones once again shows that it is powerful.

Apple is therefore in front and will logically remain so with the iPhone 14 which will carry the A16 chip. It will be interesting to see if the difference will be noticeable between the A15 and the A16.
