Behind the scenes at the cover reveal: ‘We want to start a Sisterhood movement’
Best friends, sisters-in-law and guest editors-in-chief Kim Feenstra and Maria Tailor unveiled the cover of their Kek Mama while enjoying a drink and a snack in Amsterdam’s newest sky bar. In addition to the glitter and glamour, they mainly brought their pure message. We should celebrate sisterhood.
An impression of the afternoon.
Every mother will agree that motherhood is not always easy. Or as editor-in-chief Jannine Berkelaar said during the unveiling: “You’re always tired, you always have to be ‘on’ and you’re never sure if you’re doing it right. How nice is it when there is a group of women around you who support and help you in motherhood.” And that is exactly sisterhood, the theme that Kim and Maria are committed to and not only that: the two sisters-in-law want to make a movement start.
Kim: “We both believe that women should support each other more. You don’t always have to be able to go through the same door with everyone. I also have people in my life of whom I think: not my type of blood group, but then I can still be happy for her if she is happy or successful.”
According to Kim, we should certainly be nicer online as well. “We should meet each other more lovingly, put each other down less. We all deal with the same things, are more with each other connected than you think. There is always another woman going through the same thing as you. I like to offer a helping hand. That’s why I think this theme is so special; certainly to do with my sister, who I want to stick behind the wallpaper so often to pull her out again with a lot of love, haha.”
“I also have people in my life of whom I think: not my type of blood group, but then I can still be happy for her if she is happy or successful.”
Sister-in-law Maria adds: “Sisterhood is for us the huge lump of love we have for each other. We want this together movement start and transfer. Just so you know: even if I’m through it or I don’t completely agree with my girlfriend… we’re still there for each other and we’re going to help each other.” Cheers to that!
