Beats Studio Buds Officially Revealed
Are you charmed by the AirPods Pro, but less so by the price tag? Then the Beats Studio Buds officially presented today are an interesting alternative. Like the most expensive AirPods, these wireless earbuds have active noise cancellation. This way you can easily filter out annoying ambient noises. There is also a Transparency mode that amplifies outside sounds. This is useful if, for example, you are on a bicycle and want to hear the traffic coming.
If you use active noise cancellation or Transparency mode, the Beats Studio Buds last five hours on a single charge. If you turn these features off, that’s a maximum of eight hours. The included charging case guarantees a total of 24 hours of listening pleasure. You charge the case via a USB-C port. Unfortunately, you cannot provide the earbuds with battery juice wirelessly.
Just like the AirPods Pro, the Beats Studio Buds are in-ear earbuds. As a result, they fall out of your ears less quickly than regular AirPods. There are three sizes of silicone ear tips in the box: small, medium and large.
So many functions are the same, but the Beats Studio Buds have a completely different design than the AirPods Pro. So we don’t see a stem, but a blunt end. The earplugs are therefore slightly smaller and lighter. And where AirPods have sensors to pause music or take a phone call, the Beats Studio Buds have physical buttons. You can also choose from three colors: white, black and red. AirPods can only be purchased in white.
Good cooperation with Apple products
Beats is a subsidiary of Apple. Although the Studio Buds are not an official Apple product, you can expect good cooperation with your iPhone or iPad. For example, you can activate the digital assistant Siri hands-free by saying “Hey Siri”. You also enjoy the spatial Spatial Audio.
Because the Studio Buds do not have an Apple chip on board, you do miss some functions. For example, if you watch a video on your iPhone and then tap a video on your iPad, the earbuds don’t switch automatically.
The Beats Studio Buds are officially on sale in the United States starting today. Unfortunately we have to wait a little longer. Apple’s Dutch website states that the earplugs will be “available this summer” for 149.95 euros.
