Bad news for movie and Super Mario fans
The two would be combined in the Super Mario Bros movie, but there is bad news to report.
Super Mario is known as the Nintendo game. Where Nintendo’s game consoles innovated, Mario innovated with it. It is one of the most famous game series of all time and Super Mario Bros. has taken many forms. One that hasn’t been seen yet: a Super Mario movie.

Luckily it comes! Nintendo and Universal Studios have announced a movie featuring all of your favorite Super Mario characters. It will be an animated film, animated by well-known film animator Illumination. The voice actors are also not the least. The cast includes Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi) and Jack Black (Bowser). A big promise, but it seems that Nintendo had a bit too much on their plate. Where the film would first be released in the summer of 2022, it is now slightly delayed.
Delay
Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto announced this on Twitter. It is unknown why the film is delayed. It is known when we can expect the Super Mario Bros on the silver screen: 2023. April 28 in Japan and April 7 in the US, to be precise. It is not known when Europeans can expect the film. Oh yes, the film will be worth the wait, according to someone who is on the team that will make the film.
Too bad for movie and Mario fanatics, but the movie is coming. So put the spring of 2023 in your calendar if you don’t want to miss the Super Mario movie.
