autonomy will increase thanks to larger batteries
Good news for Apple fans, the iPhone 15 should definitely bury Android smartphones in one area: autonomy. A significant increase in the size of their battery would be on the program.
An alleged employee of Foxconn, which is responsible for the production of the iPhone 15 for Apple, would have revealed confidential information to our Chinese colleagues from ITHome, including in particular what to expect from the batteries. According to him, Apple is planning an increase in the capacity of the accumulators of all models, and this one is far from being ridiculous.
Last year, the iPhone 14s also got slightly bigger batteries on some models, but the capacity difference was so subtle that no real gain was seen on smartphones. However, this should change this year, since there is talk of an increase of up to 18% in the size of the batteries.

What capacities for the batteries of the iPhone 15?
According to ITHome, the iPhone 15 should see the biggest increase, taking advantage of a 3877 mAh battery. That’s a hefty 18% uptick from the previous generation’s 3279mAh. With a screen of only 6.1 inches and a refresh rate stuck at 60 Hz, it is expected to become the most autonomous device in its segment.
The iPhone 15 Plus would be entitled to 4912 mAh this year, 14% more than the 4325 mAh of the iPhone 14 Plus. Here again, autonomy also promises to be exceptional on this smartphone 6.7 inches with a screen refresh blocked at 60 Hz.
The Pro models are not forgotten, the smallest benefiting from a 3650 mAh battery, against 3200 mAh for the iPhone 14 Pro, an increase of 14%. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will also approach the 5000 mAh found on high-end Android smartphones with a capacity of 4852 mAh. This is 12% more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and its 4323 mAh, which was already considered a champion of autonomy.
Given these significant increases and the arrival of a new A17 chip engraved in 3 nm, which promises to be much more energy efficient, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to once again become the most durable smartphone in the high-end segment.
Here is a summary of the expected capabilities:
- iPhone 15: 3877mAh
- iPhone 15 Plus: 4912mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro: 3650mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4852mAh
