AR / VR headset and FaceTime: Apple would bet on Memojis and SharePlay

FaceTime should be one of the elements put forward by Apple with its AR / VR helmet, in particular with Memojis and SharePlay according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

Memojis and SharePlay for Apple Headphones

There are more and more rumors about Apple’s headset combining augmented and virtual reality. This week, Apple made changes to the App Store and logs showed references to realityOS, which confirms the existence of an operating system dedicated to this famous headset. As early as 2017, rumors had spoken of rOS. A priori, the final name will be realityOS and not its contraction.

Today Mark Gurman Explain that the Apple headset could be used for calls with FaceTime in the meeting room with dozens of people and each one who would have a Memoji instead of their face. The headset would be able to recognize facial expressions to display them on Memojis, which would allow for a somewhat more “real” experience.

Also, SharePlay would be part of it. This feature, available since iOS 15.1, allows you to share an activity with others, such as watching a movie, listening to music and more. This experience would also be available with the headset.

If the latest rumors and leaks are to be believed, Apple’s AR/VR headset isn’t expected to see the light of day until 2023. It was originally rumored to arrive in late 2022, but recent complications with the development would be linked to the postponement to 2023.
