Rumor: Apple stops production of the iPhone 12 mini
Analysts claim that JP Morgan. The American bank has updated investors about Apple’s production chain. Analysts indicate that the company will make more models of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max in the coming quarter, but fewer copies of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini.
In fact, JP Morgan claims that Apple will completely stop production of the iPhone 12 mini in the second quarter of 2021. The smallest iPhone 12 version is, according to the investment bank, a lot less popular than people had previously estimated. Since there is still enough stock, it would not be necessary to produce more copies.
‘High demand for Pro models’
According to the analysts, Apple will continue to make iPhone 12s for the time being, but the production will be reduced by more than 9 million models. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, would be a lot more popular than expected. Apple is therefore increasing production with 11 and 2 million models respectively.
Finally, the bank reports that the iPhone 11 is still very popular. Apple would therefore make 8 million more copies of the entry-level model of 2019 this quarter.
About the iPhone 12 mini
JP Morgan’s claims have not been confirmed or invalidated by Apple. It is therefore not clear whether the information is correct. However, it is not the first time that it has been claimed that the iPhone 12 mini is not a sales success.
For example, a message came out at the end of January DigiTimes says that the mini would only make up 6 percent of the total number of iPhone 12 sales. Even then it was indicated that the iPhone 12 Pro would sell very well.
