Apple unveils iOS 16 alert to detect fake AirPods
An alert appears on your iPhone running iOS 16 if you have connected fake AirPods. It is a novelty of the update, available since yesterday, and Apple explains it on his website. Note that this alert had already been talked about with the code for the release candidate of Apple’s mobile operating system.
iOS 16 alert says “Unable to verify AirPods. These headphones could not be verified as real AirPods and may not behave as expected.” The user then has two options. The one highlighted is “Do not connect”. The other is “Connect via Bluetooth settings”.
Do you have fake AirPods and are hesitant to install iOS 16 on your iPhone? Don’t worry, you can continue to use your headphones. This is only an alert that warns you that your headphones are not from Apple. This will be especially useful for those who really thought they were buying AirPods, when in fact they were a fake model.
“You can choose not to connect your unverified AirPods, or to connect them in the Bluetooth settings. If you connect your unverified AirPods, they may not work as expected,” says Apple. If needed, you can go to this page to help identify your AirPods.
Here’s a video showing what iOS 16’s alert looks like:

It should also be noted that some customers who have (obviously) purchased real AirPods from resellers have an alert on iOS 16. This is an error.
