Apple TV+ would have obtained the rights for American football

Apple TV+ really wants to bet on sport. After the rights for baseball, the streaming service would have obtained those for the NFL, namely American football.

And now American football on Apple TV+?

According to PuckNews, Apple TV+ has secured the rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket, which includes weekly broadcasts of American football games. For a while now, the operator DirecTV has been the broadcaster, but its rights will end at the end of the season. So there will be a new owner and it would be Apple.

DirecTV offers the NFL Sunday Ticket for between $290 and $400 per season (depending on options). The cost of broadcast rights is $1.5 billion a year. In Apple’s case, the costs would be $2.5 billion a year. By comparison, the two baseball games each Friday cost Apple $85 million per season.

Neither Apple nor the NFL has confirmed the information at this time. In reality, Apple would do everything so that the information does not leak, probably to announce it itself. It’s missed given the leak of the day.

It remains to be seen what will happen in terms of the price for Apple TV+. As it stands, the service costs €4.99/month and baseball games are included. But access will become chargeable in a few weeks, without the price being known. We can naturally suspect that the scenario will be similar for American football.
