Apple Store US: employees plan to unionize

Employees in Apple Stores in the United States are beginning to be annoyed with their salaries in view of inflation and the fact that Apple is one of the most profitable companies in the world. According to washington postemployees intend to unionize.

On the road to unionizing Apple employees

Groups of employees working in at least two US Apple Stores are preparing to file documents with the National Labor Relations Board in the near future. It is an independent agency of the US federal government responsible for conducting union elections and investigating illegal practices in the workplace. In addition, at least half a dozen other shops are said to be in the early stages of the unionization process.

Salary is clearly the element that pushes employees to unionize. Currently, Apple offers between $17 and $30 per hour depending on the job and location of the store. For some employees, this is too low in view of inflation. They also believe that Apple has a lot of financial resources and does not take advantage of them to increase salaries comfortably.

Recently, Apple announced salary increases for employees of US Apple Stores, but this does not affect everyone and the increase is ultimately quite slight. There is often talk of an extra dollar per hour.

Also, Apple recently decided to improve the benefits granted to employees. It is to keep them, knowing that several people have already left the company because of salary and/or working conditions.
