Apple dominated the market, with sales of its devices accounting for 22% of all smartphones sold in the quarter. Samsung took second place with a 20% share, improving by 3% year-on-year. Xiaomi continues to hold third with 20%, followed by Chinese OPPO and in vivo producers with 9% and 8% respectively.

And with regard to the component shortage crisis, Canalys Mobility Vice President Nicole Peng says that despite the improving situation, the problems associated with the crisis will plague manufacturers until the second half of 2022. While large smartphone manufacturers are currently focusing on rebuilding best-selling series, device specifications and appeal to new chip manufacturers, smaller brands have a harder time.
