Apple plans product fireworks: Secret plans leaked
In the coming weeks and months, Apple will ignite a veritable firework display of new products. We can already get a first impression of this now that these secret plans have already leaked out.
The four upcoming iPhone 14 models are no longer a secret – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The new features of the Apple Watch are also already known. In 2022 Apple would like to introduce three new variants – Apple Watch Series 8, a successor to the Apple Watch SE and an Apple Watch for extreme athletes. All of these products are also mentioned by Apple insider and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. But there’s more the expert has to reveal (Source: Power-on newsletter).
Apple’s new Macs and iPads
For example, Apple is planning a whole range of M2-based Mac computers, MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro with a 13-inch display were just the beginning. We can therefore expect in the near future:
- M2 Mac mini
- M2 Pro Mac mini
- M2 Pro and M2 Max based MacBook Pros (14 and 16 inch)
- M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme based Mac Pro
A new Mac Studio is not explicitly mentioned by Gurman, but logically there should and could be upgrades for this desktop Mac as well. However, an iMac is also missing from the list. One possible explanation: the M3 is scheduled to appear as early as next year. Apple then wants to use this chip in both the MacBook Air (13-inch) and a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch display. The chip is also to be used in a new iMac and possibly a new 12-inch laptop.
The M2 in MacBook Air was just the beginning:
But the current M2 will not only have a future in the Macs. Apple will also use the chip in a new version of the iPad Pro. Speaking of the iPad: The inexpensive entry-level model will be renewed in 2022 and will have a USB-C connection in the future. This model is then fired by an A14 chip – no longer brand new, but still fully powerful. In 2023, an even larger iPad will appear – 14 inches are in it.
New Apple TV
Probably yes, but there’s more likely first new Apple TV. According to Gurman with A14 chip and 4GB of RAM. A real successor to the discontinued HomePods should also appear. It should be powered by the future Apple Watch 8 S8 chip. And then there’s Apple’s ominous mixed reality headset. We’ll see next year. An M2 and 16 GB of RAM work inside. In short: More powerful than some Macs.
A dream remains, because the new Apple TV is not a television either:
The quintessence: A very nice Apple program for this year and next. For us Europeans, that would not actually be a reason to be happy suboptimal cost situation. Because of the more and more devalued euro, all these new Apple products are becoming very expensive. A new purchase then needs to be carefully considered.
